About the role
Join IAG Cargo and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of health and safety across our London Heathrow operations. This is not just a safety and compliance role, it’s about driving innovation, influencing culture, and making a real impact in one of the most complex and fast-paced environments in aviation.
As a key member of our Health & Safety team, you’ll take ownership of critical safety reporting, lead investigations into complex issues, and deliver practical solutions that keep our people, partners, and operations safe. You’ll work closely with compliance teams, legal advisors, and external stakeholders like Heathrow Airport Limited, ensuring that every aspect of our operation meets the highest standards.
Your leadership will extend beyond your immediate team, coaching and developing colleagues across the business, embedding a proactive safety mindset, and championing continuous improvement. From auditing and trend analysis to designing safety campaigns and influencing engineering projects, you’ll be at the heart of initiatives that shape our operational excellence.
This role offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to deputise for the Head of Health & Safety, giving you exposure to strategic decision-making. If you’re passionate about creating a positive safety culture and thrive on collaboration, problem-solving, and driving change, this is your opportunity to make a difference on a global scale.
What you’ll do
- Own and manage Health & Safety Incident Reports for LHR, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and closure in line with regulatory and company requirements.
- Drive compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation across the Heathrow Campus, embedding best practices into daily operations.
- Lead investigations into complex safety issues, delivering practical, compliant solutions that protect people and assets.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to measure adherence to health, safety, and fire safety standards, reporting findings and driving corrective actions.
- Collaborate across departments to manage and resolve incident reports, reinforcing a culture of accountability and robust safety governance.
- Work closely with legal teams on potential or actual claims, ensuring all actions align with regulatory and company standards.
- Champion a positive safety culture, coaching managers and teams to integrate compliance into every aspect of their work.
- Partner with subcontractors and external stakeholders, ensuring they meet IAG Cargo’s stringent health and safety requirements.
- Provide accurate weekly and monthly compliance reports to senior leadership, highlighting trends and recommending improvements.
- Support design, engineering, and construction projects, ensuring safety and compliance are embedded from concept to completion.
