About the role
As Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Manager, you will lead a specialist team accountable for interpreting and ensuring compliance with both International and Host State legislation and regulations as well as cargo industry standards. You will set direction and, provide technical guidance and support to enable effective local and regional implementation and management in the areas of Safety, Security, Customs and Ethics & Compliance.
You will be the custodian of the IAG Cargo operating manuals, ensuring that the business has clearly laid out requirements to achieve compliance to regulations and standards.
The remit will include creating an awareness and understanding of requirements and policies through ongoing communications in conjunction with the operating principles laid down within the IAG Cargo operating manuals and group standing instructions.
You will provide assurance and oversight to various stakeholders through a quality programme as to the performance and robustness of the controls implemented to protect the business in meeting regulation and standards as well as support the expansion of the network.
Through management systems you will drive focus on effective investigations and corrective actions to address non-conformance as well as identify areas of continuous improvement and create measurable action plans to address and deliver a step change in risk management through change programmes.
What you’ll do
Interpret regulatory requirements and industry standards, promoting a risk-based approach through the creation and implementation of policies and procedures, guiding the organsation to being safe, secure and compliant as well as operating in an ethical manner.
Risk Management- Responsible for identifying, quantifying and managing safety, security, customs and Ethics & Compliance risk. Regularly coordinate risk assessments to identify specific compliance risks.
- Develop and maintain Management Systems to allow gap analysis to be conducted, monitoring of performance to be undertaken, promote culture within the organisation and mitigations to be implemented.
- Ensure adequate measures and controls are in place to comply and these are fit for purpose against regulatory changes.
- Ensure safety, security, customs and Ethics & Compliance risks from business change projects are effectively mitigated through a management of change programme.
- Accountable for managing, maintaining and enacting an IAG Cargo incident response programme to ensure an effective and timely response to mitigate disruption to the business.
Quality and Standards
- Develop and manage a quality assurance programme for the IAG Cargo network to ensure compliance with regulation, international standards, IAG operating company requirements and the IAG Cargo operating manuals. Where shortfalls exist make appropriate recommendations and monitor completion.
- Ensure all safety, security and customs requirements as well as industry standards, policies and procedures are clearly defined, and specifications distilled into understandable and compliant standards within the operating manual.
Governance & Oversight
- Maintaining and maturing IAG Cargo’s safety and security governance structure to provide relevant insights to how controls are tested and performing, identifying where controls are ineffective and, defining interventions and action plans required to bring critical risks under control.
- Producing timely and relevant reports to support business decisions and vendor management discussions.
Support
- Review, advise and guide the businesses on regulatory compliance matters related to safety, security and customs, provide assistance, judgement and challenge to the business.
- Work with the organisation to unlock new opportunities and grow the business as a subject matter expert
- Exercise and promote greater tone from the top with respect to communicating key activities related to regulatory compliance. Support the leadership team to promote a culture of compliance and risk-based decision-making.

Skills and Experience:
- Hold a degree level qualification and/or relevant experience ideally related to a broad spectrum of compliance activities.
- Hold previous regulatory compliance experience, preferred: risk or policy management and an understanding of regulatory text.
- Be able to pass a Counter Terrorism Check.
- Have the right to live and work in the UK.
- Displays resilience when faced with challenges; balances competing demands and
responds well to changing priorities, adaptable. - Consistently completes deliverables within deadline and to high standard.
- Seeks to continuously improve outputs; identify opportunities for improvements whilst balancing the needs of the business.
- The ability to collect & organise data, interpret its significance & provide management with clear & concise reports.
- Demonstrates ability to influence to achieve buy-in from key stakeholders;
communicates effectively and inspires people at all levels. - Effective people manager, who can direct and lead a varied team.
